A subset of the full bargaining teams from MIT and the GSU met on Friday, August 11, and Wednesday, August 16. The goal, agreed to by both teams, was to focus the time on the following topics:
- non-residential student status;
- degree programs related to the proposed “special circumstances” section of the compensation article developed by MIT;
- hourly workers; and
- questions related to hardship funds.
The discussions were productive and collegial. As always, MIT remains committed to continuing productive discussions and is focused on finalizing a contract with the GSU as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The next full bargaining session is currently scheduled for August 31.
